In July 2017, the "Conseil d'Etat" (the supreme administrative court) already condemned the French state for failing to take adequate measures against air pollution. Despite the air quality strategic roadmaps presented, little has been done by the state and the cities since then, so that the NGOs have again taken legal action. They want a commitment to the result to be recognised and are demanding heavy fines for the French state: €100,000 fine per day as long as the 2017 ruling is not implemented. The decision will be announced in three weeks.
Let's hope that the 48,000 annual past deaths due to air pollution will not be forgotten!
