Environmentally friendly transport: what remains of the Convention's proposals?
Emmanuel Macron responded yesterday to the proposals of the citizens' climate convention. Most of them will be implemented; only a few have been rejected. The speed limit of 110km/h on motorways in particular, which immediately triggered a heated debate. According to a poll, a majority of the population is in favour of many of the remaining measures: an increased "malus" for polluting cars (54%), a reduction in diesel tax benefits for heavy goods vehicles (81%), and driving bans in cities for polluting vehicles (67%). These measures are an important signal for cities that have elected green Majors, to set up more low-emission zones and plan a Diesel phase out!
