China builds the first forest city in the world to fight air pollution

Every year, more than 3 million Chinese people die because of air pollution. To fight this, the Italian architect Stefano Boeri found a solution: a colossal forest-city, where 40,000 trees should “eat” the smog. 100 different species will be planted on the ground, on balconies and on rooftops, on a total surface of 175 hectares along the river Liujiang, south China. The trees should take in 10,000 tons of CO2 every year and produce 900 tons of oxygen.
