Reversed Tolls

The European metropolis of Lille (France) plans to set up a reversed toll system by the end of 2018. This system has been tested nearly 3 months with some 40 drivers and is already implemented in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. It aims at rewarding motorists who agree to stop driving during peak hours (2€ per trip with a ceiling of €80 per month) and would reduce the hourly traffic by 5%. Estimated costs: €13,7 million over 4 years.
