Official order defines new measures for the ZPA of Lille

The new limits of ZPA environmental zone of the agglomeration of Lille have been decided on 5th july 2017 by the prefects of the region Hauts-de-France. These limits are effective since Tuesday 18th july and count 12 communities: Lille, Lomme, Hellemmes, Séquedin, Lambersart, Saint-André-Lez-Lille, Marquette-Lez-Lille, Marcq-en-Barœul, La Madeleine, Mons-en-Barœul, Lézennes et Ronchin. Beside the concrete definition of the ZPA zone, the new paper also increases the measure taking place when air pollution is high and circulation is restricted.

The activation of emergency measures will take place much prompter than it was until now: when fine particles PM10 exceed the limits of 50 μg/m³ for more than two days, urgency level is reached. Until now, the values had to be exceeded for four days or more to cause an emergency. Also, the threshold of ozone has been raised to 180 μg/m³. The urgency measures will be discontinuously when the weather forecast does not expect a durable improvement of air quality. Also, the paper fixes an indicative list of measures that can be taken by the prefects depending on duration, intensity and nature of the pollution. The measures concern agricultural, industrial and tertiary sectors. Circulation restrictions are listed within the proposed measures.

The new limits of the ZPA Lille are valuable from today. The new measures will concern a big part of the metropole of Lille and as by the journal France bleu, 38 % of the vehicles registered in the North might be concerned by eventual restrictions.
