Bulgaria receives a fine from the EU for air pollution

On April 5, Bulgaria has been fined by the European Court of Justice for exceeding the limits of fine dust particles established by the EU. The EU prescriptions establish an annual maximum of PM10 concentration of 40 µg/m³. In contrast, the data of the Bulgarian cities of Pernik and Sofia respectively reach 90 µg/m³ and 62 µg/m³ on average per year. These fine dust particles are particularly dangerous for the respiratory system, the heart, the brain and in some cases also for the hormonal system.
