Today, both the Département Nord (Lille) and the Département Pas-de-Calais are affected by a peak of air pollution. The cloud of fine dust spreads over the whole region of the Franco-Belgian border. Cities in the South of Belgium, including Brussels, are thus also affected. According to Atmo Haust-de-France, the Institute for the Control of Air Quality in Northern France, it is unlikely that the quality of the air will improve in the coming days.
However, the Crit'Air vignette is not yet mandatory in the city of Lille and its region.
