The Air Pollution is Responsible for 425 000 deaths each year in Europe

The review Environmental Research Letters published today a scientific research lead by the Norwegian Institute for Meteorology, in association with the International Institute for applied analysis (IIASA) Vienna. This study estimates that each year, 425 000 deaths are directly linked to the air pollution in Europe. The scientists blame the excess of nitrogen oxide emissions due to Diesel motors. They estimate that the 100 million Diesel vehicles in Europe are responsible for the early death of 5 000 people. France, Italy and Germany would be the more affected countries.
